Tournament organisers described the result at Pakansari Stadium as a champions performance from Kim Sang-sik’s side. Defender Nguyen Van Vi was named player of the match.
Vietnam have now played three matches without conceding, having opened with a 7-0 win over Timor-Leste and drawn 0-0 with Singapore. Indonesia, who had won their first two matches, remain on six points and can still qualify.

What happened in Phnom Penh?
Hav Soknet, a 22-year-old Visakha FC forward, scored in the 16th and 63rd minutes at Morodok Techo National Stadium, and substitute Mon Rado headed a third in the final minute. Midfielder Alisher Mirzaev created both of Hav Soknet’s goals.
The win gives Cambodia three points from three matches, though they were already unable to reach the top two. Timor-Leste finish the group phase with four defeats and no goals scored, the only side in the tournament yet to score.

Group B continues on Tuesday, with Myanmar hosting Laos at Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon and the Philippines meeting Thailand at New Clark City Athletics Stadium in Capas. Myanmar coach Jorn Andersen said his side needed three points to keep their knockout hopes alive.
Group B concludes on 8 August. The two-legged semi-finals run from 15 August, with the final decided over two legs by 26 August.
Vietnam won the previous edition, beating Thailand 5-3 on aggregate for a third title. Indonesia have finished runners-up six times without winning the tournament, and have not reached the semi-finals since 2022.
The competition moved to a summer window this year for the first time since 1998.
