Rockstar Games will premiere an extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI on Netflix on 27 August, six hours before the footage reaches its own YouTube channel, in what the streaming service described as a first-of-its-kind partnership.
The presentation goes live on Netflix at 3pm Eastern time, and on the Rockstar YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website at 9pm Eastern.
What has been announced?
Rockstar issued a press release on Thursday confirming the schedule. Neither company has said how long the presentation will run or what it will cover.
Brandon Riegg, Netflix vice president of nonfiction series, said in a statement that reveals for the series have become cultural moments in their own right.

When is the GTA 6 extended look?
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix on Thursday 27 August 2026 at 3pm Eastern time, equivalent to 12pm Pacific and 8pm British Summer Time. The same footage becomes available on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel and the official Grand Theft Auto VI website six hours later, at 9pm Eastern. Rockstar Games announced the arrangement on 6 August 2026, and Netflix described it as a first-of-its-kind partnership. Neither company has disclosed the length or contents of the presentation. Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release in November 2026 after thirteen years in development, and is set in Vice City and the fictional state of Leonida, following characters named Jason and Lucia. The launch version is a single-player game with no online component announced.
Why Netflix?
The two companies already have a commercial relationship. Netflix subscribers have had access to classic Rockstar titles on mobile for several years, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas reached close to 60 million downloads through the service.
The arrangement gives Netflix a window on material that would ordinarily go straight to a publisher’s own channels, and gives Rockstar access to the platform’s subscriber base. Kotaku reported that the six-hour exclusivity window drew criticism from some players, since the footage will have been described online before it reaches the free channels.
What is known about the game?
Grand Theft Auto VI is due in November after thirteen years in development. Pre-orders opened in June at $79.99 for the standard edition and $99.99 for the ultimate edition.
Rockstar has said the launch version is a single-player experience. No online or multiplayer component has been announced, a departure from the pattern established by its predecessor.
Two trailers have been released so far. Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar, had indicated that marketing would intensify over the summer.
Streaming platforms and games
The arrangement reflects a wider convergence. Netflix has built a mobile games catalogue, adapted game properties into series, and is now taking first-window rights on a games marketing event.
For publishers, a trailer premiere on a subscription platform trades reach for attention. Rockstar reaches fewer people in the first six hours than a free YouTube release would, but places the material in front of an audience that has already paid to be there.
Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be among the largest entertainment launches of any medium this year.
